LA NACIONALIDAD NATIONALITY |
When we want to find out where someone comes from the question to ask is:
| ¿De dónde eres? | Where are you from? | (colloquial) |
| ¿De dónde es usted? | Where are you from? | (formal) |
And the possible answers to such questions are:
1) SOY + Adjective of nationality
2) SOY + City or village of origin
3)SOY + Country of origin
Examples:
| 1) Soy español | 2) Soy de Madrid | 3) Soy de España |
With reference to adjectives of nationality, we normally have masculine and feminine forms.
MASCULINE |
FEMININE |
1) Consonant or -O (alemán, francés, chino, italiano...) |
add an -A or change the -O to -A ( alemana, francesa, china, italiana ...) |
2) One form for both masculine and feminine (3 cases) - I (iraní, marroquí ...) - ENSE (estadounidense, canadiense ...) - A (belga, croata ...) |
-I (iraní, marroquí ...) - ENSE (estadounidense, canadiense ...) - A (belga, croata ...) |
