LA EDAD

AGE

If you want to find out how old someone is, the question to ask would be:

¿Cuántos años tienes? How old are you? (colloquial)
¿Cuántos años tiene usted? How old are you? (formal)

You can also use:

¿Qué edad tienes? What’s your age? (colloquial)
¿Qué edad tiene usted? What’s your age? (formal)

The answer to either of the 2 questions is:

Tengo treinta años I’m thirty
Treinta Thirty

If we describe someone and we refer to their age we can use the following expression:

Una mujer de cuarenta años A forty year old woman
Un bebé de tres meses A 3-month old baby

And if we don’t know the exact age we can say "around" or simply say they are young or old:

Tiene unos veinte años She is around twenty
Un chico joven A young man
Un señor mayor An old man
